sha1

Produces a SHA1 hash of a value. Note that the algorithm SHA256 is also available using the sha256 function.

sha1(<value>)

Use Case:

You want to encrypt a user’s email address in SHA1 format in a query string parameter for later decryption. This is case sensitive, so “John” will return a different value than “john”
