Requirements for Full-Service Liveclicker Support for Dynamic LiveScrape Campaigns
A Dynamic LiveScrape allows users to scrape live content on a webpage by using a jQuery selector to choose a specific DOM element on the webpage. Because Liveclicker uses a jQuery selector to identify the scraped content, we will scrape the correct content no matter where it is on the webpage even if it changes spots or updates to new content.
For clients who wish to engage Liveclicker to create a Dynamic LiveScrape full service campaign, you must provide the following to your Liveclicker Account Manager or Liveclicker Support Team Member. Upon receipt of the below items, Liveclicker will review and provide the HTML embed code to be placed in the email template within 2-3 business days* provided all information and assets are complete and delivered.
(*Time frame for receiving completed HTML embed code may change depending on additional changes requested in item 6 and number of versions and targeting rules specified in item 7 of the below list.)
Planned Launch Date — Provide Liveclicker Support Team Member with the planned launch date for your email campaign as well as your desired testing date deadline you would like to receive the Liveclicker HTML embed code by.
Webpage URL where desired LiveScrape content is located on. You must specify the exact content on the webpage you want scraped to your account manager or Liveclicker support representative. Based on your request, a Liveclicker support team member will confirm whether the content can be identified using a jQuery selector. If the content cannot be identified with a jQuery selector, it will not be eligible for a Dynamic LiveScrape. In that case, the support team will suggest alternative methods to help you achieve your campaign goals.
Clickthrough Type —Choose whether or not the scraped content should have a clickthrough URL.
If Clickthrough URL is required, you must decide whether you want to use a static clickthrough URL (a URL that stays the same no matter what content is shown), or a dynamic clickthrough URL (a url that will update as the content of your scrape updates.)
If you choose to have a static clickthrough URL, you must provide a default clickthrough URL to be used for your scraped content.
If you chose to use a dynamic clickthrough url, please tell your Liveclicker support team member, and they will confirm if there is a the jQuery selector available to identify the dynamic clickthrough URL for your scraped content. If a jQuery selector is not available, you may not be able to have a dynamic clickthrough URL for your chosen content, and a Liveclicker Support team member will provide you with alternative options.
Dimensions — Provide your desired dimensions for your scraped content. You have 4 options to choose from:
-
Fixed dimensions: If you want your scraped content to be an exact size no matter what content is showing, provide your Liveclicker support team member with the fixed set of dimensions your scrape should be sized to.
-
Dynamic dimensions: If you want the dimensions of your scraped content to update to exactly what the content is on the webpage being scraped, choose dynamic dimensions. Liveclicker will then set up your scrape so that it updates to the exact dimensions of the content on your webpage.
-
Fixed width; auto-scaled height: If you want the width of your scraped content to always be the same, and Liveclicker to scale the height of the content according to the fixed width, choose this option and provide your Liveclicker support team member with your fixed width size.

Any additional changes to your scraped content you would like. Our Liveclicker Support Team members can edit your scraped content in various ways to achieve your campaign goals using custom jQuery and CSS.(not required). Here are some examples of changes you can make to your scraped content:
- Change in size
- CSS - color, font, text, background, etc.
- Logic - i.e. show this content, hide this content
Alternate content — Provide any alternate content you would like scraped, and targeting rules that should apply to alternate versions of content. For example there might be a mobile version of the webscraped content that Liveclicker can target to only show up in mobile email clients. (For all alternate versions of scraped content, Liveclicker will need the alternate settings (steps 2-6) for each. (not required)
Error Replacement Image — Provide your Liveclicker Support Team Member with an Error Replacement Image and Clickthrough URL (if you chose to have a clickthrough URL with your scraped content.) This is an image of what Liveclicker should show if there is an error with the site that the content is served from. Liveclicker can also serve a 1x1 transparent pixel in this case, if the client would like to collapse the webscrape in case of an error.
Preferred time in between LiveScrapes — By default, Liveclicker scrapes content for a Dynamic LiveScrape every 10 minutes. By request, Liveclicker can adjust this update window on a campaign by campaign basis. (not required)
