LiveCalendar - Best Practices
The LiveCalendar element is an amazingly effective way to remind your subscribers of an upcoming event and drive higher attendance rates. When used strategically, your connected calendar can be a powerful tool for generating additional revenue and conversions. Make the most of this exciting option by following our helpful tips and best practices.
Use a clear and compelling call-to-action (CTA)
The button that links to your LiveCalendar is prime real estate in your email campaign. So, don’t just stick with the standard add to calendar, instead, drive more clicks by having a clear and compelling CTA such as mark your calendar, or remind me on <date>. Doing this makes it explicitly clear to your subscribers what will happen after they click the add-to-calendar button and will entice more engagement.
Use animation to grab your subscribers attention
The use of animated GIFs is fully supported by the LiveCalendar element, so be sure to keep this in mind when designing your calendar icons and CTA buttons. It’s best to create something that not only stands out in the template design but immediately captures your subscribers attention upon opening.
Include an event link in the event description
The URL link that you create for your event is another important aspect to be utilized.
Whenever you do include a link to your event, make sure to enter it in the event description as well as the event URL field. This is due to the fact that some email clients won’t display the event link and others may strip it out from the event description, so it’s best to place it in as many places as possible to increase the chances of it being seen (and used) by your subscribers.
Re-engage with subscribers who have clicked
Did you know that LiveCalendars are a covert way to collect zero and first party data? For example, if a subscriber has clicked on the add to calendar option, you can re-target them in your email campaigns with event information to build momentum and excitement. Alternatively, if displaying a selection of events within the same email, you can use clicks to gauge preferences. For example, were your subscribers more interested in the pop band or the rock concert?
Drive FOMO by utilizing our click counter
One of the many useful aspects of LiveCalendar is the click counter option, which lets you display how many people have added the event to their calendar. By setting a minimum threshold, you can have the clicks count up with each and every new click, adding urgency and encouraging a sense of FOMO.
Personalize your event description
You can hyper-personalize your event description by using any of the custom fields in your account. Whether you want to address your subscribers by first name or include a unique coupon code, the possibilities are endless and it’s a great way to keep subscribers informed of the event details.
Pair with LiveTimer or LiveMap campaigns
LiveCalendars work exceptionally well when paired with countdown timers to drive a sense of urgency and encourage more clicks. It’s also a really good idea to include a map if the event that your LiveCalendar campaign is promoting will be held at a physical location. So don’t be shy about pairing your Liveclicker elements together!
