LiveForecast - Best Practices

Display the right number of days for your needs

When using LiveForecast, you can display between 1 and 7 days of weather forecasts in your campaign. Be sure to pick the right number of days for your marketing needs.

For example, you may want to display the weather for an outdoor event that takes place on a specific date or show a 3-day bank weekend weather forecast.

Pay attention to your targeting rules

Weather can be unpredictable. Thankfully, you can use location based targeting to create rules that will drive more sales. But if you do use such rules, make sure to set your targeting rules accordingly, so it will automatically swap out imagery if the weather conditions change.

For example, you may want to promote summer dresses if the temperature is above 70°F / 21 °C or wellies if it’s due to rain.

Utilize zero and first-party data if possible

There are a number of options available for setting the location and date for your weather forecast, including using zero and first-party data (which is data that you have collected from your subscribers).

For example, if you are a Travel brand you may want to display the weather on arrival to a destination airport in your pre-trip trigger campaign.
Alternatively, if you work in Sports, you may want to display a weather forecast for a fixed location and date such as a football match.

Customize your content to ensure the forecast adheres to your brand guidelines

Make sure the weather forecast adheres to your brand guidelines by uploading your own custom branded fonts and using brand approved font colors.
You also have the option to upload a custom background image (in the CSS, if desired) and to design and use your own custom weather icons.

Use a clear and compelling call-to-action (CTA)

Don’t just stick a weather forecast in your email template, make sure you have a clear and compelling CTA that swaps out according to the weather conditions. Perhaps you want people to visit a physical location if the weather is nice, or cozy up and watch a movie if it’s raining. You can easily let your subscribers know what action you want them to take with your CTA verbiage.

Pair LiveForecast with LiveImages for best results

Weather forecasts work really well when paired with LiveImages. In the same way you might place a sunglasses stand near the entrance of a store when it’s sunny and replace it with an umbrella stand if it starts raining, you can easily swap out imagery and messaging to match the subscriber’s local weather conditions.
