LiveImage - Best Practices
The Liveclicker LiveImage element is a dynamic image that can be personalized for each and every subscriber at scale using data you already have. From displaying a customer’s loyalty point status to sending a personalized year in review, there’s a multitude of advantages that you can create. However you choose to use LiveImage, follow these best practices to ensure your personalized images stand out from the crowd and have maximum impact.
Use an animated GIF as your background
It’s no secret that animated GIFs always outperform static images when it comes down to driving engagement in emails. Keep this in mind when designing your images and use an animated GIF as the LiveImage background so that it will immediately capture the attention of your audience.
Note: If you are using an animated background image, make sure to familiarize yourself with animated GIF limitations. Extremely large GIFs both cut into subscribers’ data plans and can be slow to load and play. For this reason, animated GIFs are limited to 5MB in the LiveImage setup wizard.
Use zero and first-party data
The LiveImage element is most popular for its personalization capabilities but you’re not just limited to data that lives in your ESP. This powerful element allows you to utilize data that lives across data silos such as your Yotpo’s loyalty points API or a CSV file containing product inventory levels.
Take advantage of the character limit
When using personalization, it’s important to make sure to test and preview different values so you can see what length works best for your text placeholder. If you find that a certain number of characters breaks the design, set a character limit to display the fallback image instead.
Keep your design in mind when selecting your font
Don’t just limit yourself to your brand fonts! Be sure to keep your product or service in mind when picking the right font. For example, if you are a jeweler promoting engraved bracelets, an engraved font would be a great way to entice more customers to buy your product.
