LiveMap - Best Practices
Adding a LiveMap to your email campaign allows you to feature a local map that shows the closest or most frequently visited location to the opener based on zero or first-party data such as zip code. It’s an effective time-saving tool that also personalizes each opener’s experience. Use this list of LiveMaps best practices to maximize this exciting element.
Find the right map zoom for your needs
When setting up your LiveMap, the map zoom is the view that the person will see of the map upon opening the email. As the first impression, it’s important to pay attention to how it will look.
If your LiveMap has multiple locations pinpointed, like a bank showing the local ATMs, it’s best to set the map zoom higher in order to feature more locations. Whereas, if you are just looking to feature the closest location to the opener, it’s best to set the map zoom lower to cover a smaller area on the map.
Design your map details to be on brand
You can customize the LiveMap look to your brand by adding your own map pin and by utilizing your brand’s custom fonts and colors. Or you could use different map pins to highlight different locations such as dine-in and pick-up only. Just remember that Liveclicker only accepts transparent .PNG image formats for custom map pin images and the size of the pin icon can be no larger than 64x64 pixels.
Set an appropriate map radius
Make sure to think carefully about how far is a realistic radius to the nearest location of the place(s) featured in your LiveMap. For example, if the nearest location is 100 miles away and your customers are unlikely to travel this far, it’s best to show them the map replacement image instead.
Use the location name when creating your location data sets
All LiveMaps pull data from the location data sets that have been previously created in your account. If you’ve set your clickthrough experience to launch the default map application, you have the option to include the specific location name first, e.g. “Chipotle”, <address>. This will pull up the official location details in Google maps with popular times etc. so the opener can see detailed venue information.
