LivePoll - Best Practices
The LivePoll element allows you to create interactive polls for your subscribers and embed them seamlessly into email campaigns with real-time results. There are three different types of LivePoll campaigns that you can create: an image-based option, a landing page option, or an iOS optimized landing page option. However you choose to use this fun and interactive element, follow these useful best practices to make sure your LivePolls engage with your audience and have maximum impact.
Keep answers limited to 2-5
Although you can configure up to 12 answer options in a LivePoll campaign, we recommend keeping answers within the 2-5 range where possible. Offering a manageable amount of options is key to holding the reader’s attention and generally garners stronger engagement.
Use GIFs to animate your answer images
While we’re on the topic of engagement, it’s no secret that animated GIFs always outperform static images in emails. So be sure to keep this in mind when designing your answer images and use animated GIFs for your answer images that immediately capture the attention of your audience.
Take advantage of post-vote images
When creating image-based polls specifically, you have the option to dynamically change the images your subscribers see after voting. Take advantage of this feature to drive revenue and conversion. For example, you could send a holiday gift guide that suggests gift ideas based on the subscriber's selected hobbies or interests, then link those images to the product page for a seamless buying experience.
Play on your audience’s curiosity
Instead of sharing results on completion, why not hide the results and share them in your next email campaign or on your social media network? Evoking the customer’s curiosity is a common and very effective way to drive further engagement and keep customers coming back for more.
Build a personalized profile of your customers
LivePolls aren’t just about adding an element of fun to your email campaigns, they are a great way to capture personal preferences throughout the lifecycle of the customer journey. Whether that's a poll to learn more about an individual customer's skin type or a more general poll to learn why products have been abandoned in the cart.
Pair with LiveTimer
In the event that you have a time sensitive poll, (like a set entry deadline), you can double the convenience for your customers by also including a countdown timer in the campaign. The LiveTimer can actively count down to the entry deadline, helping to drive a sense of urgency and encourage more participation as the deadline approaches.
Incentivise customers to enter
Did you know that subscribers are more likely to hand over their personal data if there is a clear benefit to doing so? Go ahead and test this fun fact out, just be sure to let your customers know how you intend to use their data; or better yet, encourage their participation with a marketing offer or prize draw.
