LiveReveal - Choose your type of LiveReveal Experience

When creating a LiveReveal campaign, you can choose between 3 different ways in which the LiveReveal element will be served.

  • LiveReveal without the landing page experience — The images are rendered in the email and there is no peel-off animation or option to scratch the image to reveal. There is a difference in experience depending on the mail client.

  • LiveReveal with the landing page experience — The images are rendered on a landing page and a peel-off animation is shown. The opener can either click or scratch the image to reveal the hidden image. The experience is the same on all email clients.

  • iOS optimized with the landing page experience — For iOS only, the images are rendered in the email and the peel-off animation is shown. The opener can click this image to reveal the hidden image in the email. Non iOS openers will have the normal landing page experience as explained above.

Let's explain in detail.

LiveReveal without the landing page experience

Without a landing page, the behavior of your LiveReveal depends on the email client of the opener. You will have to define a Click Cover Image (initially shown) and a Hidden Image which is the one being revealed. There is no scratch-off experience so no Scratch cover Image needs to be defined..

Email client: Apple Mail, AOL, or the native email client of iOS devices

On the initial email open, the user will see the Click Cover Image image.

When the user clicks on the Click Cover Image, the Hidden Image is automatically revealed in the email.

When the Hidden Image is then clicked, the user is taken to the pre-configured clickthrough URL.

Note: If the user reopens the email after revealing, the Hidden Image will automatically be served in the email. This is so you don't prompt a user to reveal more than once. When clicked, the Hidden Image will take the user the pre-configured clickthrough URL.

Email client: Any email client other than Apple Mail, AOL, or the native email client of iOS

On the initial email open, the user will immediately see the Hidden Image. There is no Click Cover Image shown.

When the Hidden Image is clicked, the user is taken to the pre-configured clickthrough URL.

Note: When selecting this type of experience, there is no proper reveal experience for email clients other than Apple Mail, AOL or native iOS email clients.

LiveReveal with the landing page experience

When you select the LiveReveal with the Landing Page Experience, you will need to configure a Click Cover Image, a Scratch Cover Image (only when you choose the scratch option to reveal) and a Hidden Image, which is the one that is being revealed.
All openers will receive the following experience:

On the initial email open, the user will see an animation composed of your Click Cover Image peeling off to show part of your Hidden Image.

When the animation is clicked, the opener is taken to a Liveclicker hosted landing page where the Scratch Cover Image is presented with instructions. Openers are prompted to scratch and reveal their hidden message. The actual instruction is configurable.

Once the opener virtually scratches off the Scratch Cover Image, the Hidden Image shows up with a call-to-action (CTA) button that takes the user to the pre-configured clickthrough URL. The text and font for this button are also configured in the LiveReveal element.

Note:There are slight differences in how the Default Experience is delivered in Outlook Desktop. For example, in Windows, animation is not allowed in this email client so instead of delivering an animation of the Click Cover Image peeling off to the Hidden Image, the static Click Cover Image is delivered. When clicked, the rest of the experience remains the same.

LiveReveal with the landing page experience and optimized for iOS

The iOS Optimized LiveReveal with the Landing Page Experience gives an enhanced experience to openers in the native email client of iOS devices. All other openers in email clients other than the native email client on iOS devices receive the same email experience as the non-iOS Optimized Landing Page experience above.

Openers in the native email client of iOS devices receive the following experience:

On the initial email open, the user will see an animation composed of your Click Cover Image peeling off to show part of your Hidden Image.

When the user clicks on the animation, the Hidden Image is automatically revealed in email. Note that the scratch experience is not possible in email.

If the Hidden Image is then clicked, the user is taken to the pre-configured clickthrough URL.

Note: If the user reopens the email campaign after revealing, the Hidden Image will automatically be delivered in the email. This is so you don't prompt a user to reveal more than once. When clicked, the Hidden Image will take the user the pre-set clickthrough URL.
