Getting Started with Places
Within the Loyalty platform, Places represent geographical locations that are of interest to your brand, such as stores, restaurants, or kiosks. A Place is defined using a street address. When you create a Place and enter its street address, the platform automatically tags the Place with latitude and longitude coordinates retrieved from Google Maps.
A Place includes information about the location, such as its address, hours of operation, contact information, and links. You can also associate a Place with a client-defined identifier, such as a store number. This identifier is stored within Loyalty in an Attribute called the Place Integration ID.
Places are used through the platform, including the following:
-
Select one or more Places to determine a Member's eligibility for Offers, Challenges, Punch Cards, Rewards, or Badges. For example, you could limit the use of an Offer to purchases made only at a specific store location.
-
Allow a Member to identify a specific Place as their "preferred location." The Place Integration ID for their preferred Place is then stored as part of the Member's Profile, which enables location-based targeting. For example, you could target Members with messages about special store events or discounts at their preferred location.
-
In conjunction with Mobile Wallet Passes, use geofencing to trigger a notification on a Member's mobile device when they physically approach a Place. See the Wallet Pass iOS Geofencing Guide for more information.
-
If you have an app for your loyalty program, display a list of nearby store locations within the app.
-
Sales transactions (referred to as Orders within the Loyalty platform) use the Place Integration ID as part of the Order's unique identifier, which allows you to quickly see where a purchase took place.
