Terminology

Before studying and understanding the working of the tool, it is important to understand the definition of the different concepts used throughout the application.

Selligent Campaign is part of the Selligent Marketing Cloud platform, requiring a one-time installation of the Selligent launcher, after which the module can be launched on a Windows OS platform and opened from multiple browser. Campaign provides access to all the necessary tools to design cross-channel and multi-step interactive communications for all types of communication such as emails, SMS, Mobile messages, social media, printed documents, digital documents or call-center integration.

Journey: in essence, a journey can be labeled as a specific communication scenario. It can range from a simple broadcast of a company newsletter to advanced email or The conversations.

Selligent Campaign developed a graphical environment where communication scenarios can be designed by sequencing components, each with its own purpose, that can be defined and linked with web pages and emails. The targeted audience will be guided through your strategy in a structured manner.

Journey compilation: graphical scenarios are internally analyzed and validated by the Selligent environment. They are transformed into a format that can be used by the Selligent back-office.
During this validation process, the journey compiler reports  the result to the user, whether the journey was well formatted or not. This ensures a solid and flawless journey.

Components: components embody the most essential pillar on which journeys are constructed. They can be identified as the building blocks, necessary to construct a journey.
The Journey section hosts numerous different types of components, each with its own purpose. The functioning of the different components will be explained later on.

Events: an event can be compared to a trigger. These triggers are launched when an action occurs within one of the components. Events define the action that will lead the targeted contact to the next component. For instance, when a targeted contact clicks on a certain link in a message, the ‘Click’ event is activated allowing him or her to move on to the next component. Events have consequences on the course of the journey.
Each component holds a set of events that can be activated.

Links: the links used in a journey express the connection between the different components. Links are the triggers that  lead the targeted contact to the next component. A link has a certain event, e.g. 'Click', 'Success' or 'Failed'. Links define the manner in which events are handled.
