Clipping Estimator in the HTML Template Editor
Background
In July we released the Clipping Estimator to Visual Email Template Builder under preview. We’ve now followed it up with a release to HTML Template Builder. Email clipping has recently become an issue Marketers are trying to avoid. In Gmail for example email clipping is when an email exceeds Gmail’s HTML size limit of 102KB, causing Gmail to shorten the message. When this happens, Gmail displays a notice at the bottom of the email: "[Message clipped] View entire message".
Solution
Clipping Estimator is a tool providing insights into email size before sending. This helps marketers avoid unintentional clipping by email providers such as Gmail and Yahoo. This tool makes an estimate as accurately as possible but email size can be increased by other factors:
- Personalization and content can vary between subscribers, so make sure you preview a wide representation of your subscribers.
- Link rewrites and other code conversions can happen after leaving Sailthru servers increasing the size for purposes such as tracking and security scanning.
