Data Integration - Prerequisites for your Journey

Before you build a Journey in Cheetah Digital, you’ll need to prepare a few key components to ensure everything runs smoothly. This article gives you a high-level overview of the required setup, with links to step-by-step instructions for each part.

Journeys rely on several other Marigold applications to send, receive, and personalize messages. Think of this article as your starting point—a checklist of what needs to be ready before building your Journey.

Intended Audience: Technical marketers or expert users who have experience with solution configuration, data management, and advanced setup.

Producer applications

Journeys are triggered by customer actions—these are known as events. To use them, you must configure a producer application to send that event data into your Journey. For more details on Producer applications, refer here.

You can choose from:

  • Cheetah Digital - uses event data available in Cheetah Digital. Refer here for detailed instructions.

  • Marigold Moments - uses signals and moments from your website or mobile app. Refer here for detailed instructions.

Customer Data Source

To personalize your Journey and track progress, you need to specify the data table in Cheetah Digital where customer records are stored.

This enables the Journey to:

  • Find the right customer at each step

  • Use personalized content

  • Make decisions based on customer attributes

Campaigns

Journeys use Cheetah Digital Campaigns to send Email, SMS, or Push notifications. These must be created and launched before being added to a Journey.

You can:

  • Create Campaigns in Cheetah Digital and link them to your Journey

  • Or use placeholder Campaigns during Journey creation (in the Send steps) and finalize them later in Cheetah Digital
